A domain is, in a way, also an address that is accessed via the internet and a browser. For your domain to become visible to visitors and users, you need a server or web host where you can host your domain or website.
In Denmark, our domain extension is ".dk", whereas in France, for example, it is ".fr". When you do a domain registration, you can decide for yourself which domain you want to use. There are various domain checkers you can use to see whether your preferred domain is available.
A domain name can also be referred to as a "second level domain (SLD)". Domain extensions, however, are called "top-level domain (TLD)". Domain extensions are typically things you have seen, such as ".com", ".nu", ".dk", and so on. Most extensions are country-based and indicate the country where the websites are located or which they target.
Domains are used for websites, blogs, webshops, and emails. When choosing a domain name, remember: a domain name that suits you and your business, relevant domain extensions – ".com" or ".dk", and if you have a unique domain name in mind for your business, hurry up before someone else takes it.
An add-on domain is used when you need two different domains to display the same website, in other words killing two birds with one stone. The term is also often referred to as a Parked Domain. The main domain could, for example, be Admatic.dk and the secondary domain name Admatic.com, but they will display the same website.
